About Danville, PA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Danville, PA is located in Montour County, which was established in 1850. The county separated from Columbia County after conflict arose in the 19th century. Since then, it has become a lovely and safe place for families to live, work and play. It is warm in the spring and summer and cooler in the fall and winter, making for a year of seasonal changes. The kids in the area swim in the summer and sled in the winter. It’s the best of both worlds!
The Borough of Danville lies along the Susquehanna River's banks. The river is an important part of local history as it was a means of transportation, and more, in the early settlements of the area, which began to pop up in the mid-1800s. The presence of iron in the hills surrounding Danville were a natural resource that helped the town to flourish in its early years. Montour County's emphasis on manufacturing continues to provide substantial employment opportunities in the area. It is, in some ways, the economic base of the county. On a warm day, it is worth taking a walk along the shores of the historic river to get a feel (and pay tribute) for what this body of water has contributed to the area.
The community’s downtown area retains much of its 19th-century architecture, giving it a historical and charming ambience that make it a great place to live or visit. Specialty shops, and a variety of restaurants line the streets and several festivals (from spring through fall, when it is warm enough to be outside) draw area residents and visitors to the downtown area.
Looking for a unique cultural experience? The Box of Light Arts Center, located in Danville, is a very special place. It is just one of many local arts opportunities available. At the center, they feature theater, music and multimedia. They also hold classes on a variety of topics and mediums. This is a great place to be at any time of year but is a particularly great way to pass the time indoors when the weather is cold.
